Charter mail IMAP setting
Charter.com (Charter Communications) provides IMAP access to your Charter.com (Charter Communications) account, so that you can connect to your email from desktop email clients and mobile devices. IMAP is an Internet standard protocol used by email clients and it stands for Internet Message Access Protocol. IMAP is used to retrieve the email from other sources. Now let’s see about Charter mail IMAP setting.
The steps for IMAP server setting for setting up Charter Email are given below:
- Set account type to IMAP
- Set your Email Address (For Ex: [email protected]) as your user name
- Set your Email account password as your password
- Set imap.charter.net as the server hostname
- Set server port to 143
- Set required authentication to yes. Here Email account username and password is required
- Set SSL/TLS to yes
Charter mail SMTP setting
SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. It is an Internet standard for electronic mail (email) transmission. SMTP is used to send e-mail messages between servers. Most e-mail systems that send mail over the Internet use SMTP to send messages from one server to another.
The steps for SMTP server setting for setting up Charter Email are given below:
- Set account type to SMTP
- Set your Email Address (For Ex: [email protected]) as your user name
- Set your Email account password as your password
- Set smtp.charter.net as the server hostname
- Set server port to 25
- Set required authentication to yes. Here Email account username and password is required
- Set SSL/TLS to yes
Here the steps for manual setup of Charter mail using IMAP and SMTP on the Android phone are given below:
- Start by choosing the Mailicon from your applications screen. And then put the email address and email password. Select Manual Setup
- Choose IMAP
- If you have chosen IMAPmake sure to enter the below settings and click Next
- Set IMAP Server as imap.cox.com
- Set Security type to None
- Set Port to 143 for IMAP
- Secure – Port: 993 and Security Type: SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
- Insecure – Port: 143 and Security Type: None (Accept all certificates)
- Enter the below outgoing SMTPSettings for CHARTER.NET and click Select Next
- Set SMTP Server as smtp.charter.net
- Set Security type to None
- Set Port to 25 for outgoing SMTP
- Outgoing (SMTP) Secure = Port: 465 for and Security Type: SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
- Outgoing (SMTP roaming server) Secure = Port: 587 and Security Type: SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
- Outgoing (SMTP) = Port: 25 and Security Type: None (Accept all certificates)
- Outgoing (SMTP roaming server) Insecure = Port: 587 and Security Type: None (Accept all certificates)
- Select Done. Now You are ready to use your email account on your Android phone
Here the steps for manual setup of Charter mail using IMAP and SMTP on the Apple iPhone phone are given below:
- Choose the Settings icon on your home screen
- Select Mail
- Select Accounts
- Select Add Account
- Choose Other from the menu
- Choose Add Mail Account
- Now put your Name, Email & Password and then click Next
- Choose Scroll down to Incoming Mail Server and put all the necessary details, do the same for Outgoing Mail Server and then select Next.
- Make sure that User Name is the full email address. User Name and Password are the same for both Incoming & Outgoing servers.
- Set Incoming Mail Server Host Name as imap.charter.net
- Set Outgoing Mail Server Host Name as smtp.charter.net
9. You may receive a prompt asking you to verify the incoming and outgoing servers – you can click continue for each or tap “Details” and then tap “Trust”
10. Save it
11. Choose the new account that you’ve just created
12. Choose the SMTP server
13. Check the SMTP settings and click Done

- Outgoing Mail Server Host Name for CHARTER.NET is smtp.charter.net
- Set full CHARTER.NET email address as user name
- Set your email password as password
- Set SSL to On. You can also turn it off and use the correct Port number as below.

- Authentication is Password
- Set Server Port to 25
