SBC Global Mail Settings | SBC IMAP and SMTP Settings

SBCGlobal is the internet service provided by AT&T. SBC is the short form for Southern Bell Corporation. Today, SBCGlobal is one of the most preferred internet services in the United States due to its relatively high reliability and high speed. IMAP stands for Internet Message Internet Protocol. IMAP is used to retrieve the email from other sources. And Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) is an Internet standard for electronic mail (email) transmission. Now let’s discuss the SBC mail IMAP and SMTP settings.

Manual setup of SBC mail using IMAP and SMTP on the Android phone

  1. At first, select the Mail icon from your applications screen. And then enter the email address and password. Choose Manual Setup

  2. Choose IMAP

  3. If you have chosen IMAP then enter the following settings and click Next
  • Set IMAP server as imap.mail.att.net
  • Set Security type as None
  • Set Port as 993 for IMAP
    • Secure : Port = 993and Security Type: SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
    • Insecure: Port = 143 and Security Type: None (Accept all certificates)

4. Enter the below outgoing SMTP Settings for SBCGLOBAL.NET and click Select Next

  • Set SMTP Server as smtp.mail.att.net
  • Set Security type as None
  • Set Port as 465 for outgoing SMTP
    • Outgoing (SMTP) Secure = Port: 465 for and Security Type: SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
    • Outgoing (SMTP roaming server) Secure = Port: 587 and Security Type: SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
    • Outgoing (SMTP) = Port: 25 and Security Type: None (Accept all certificates)
    • Outgoing (SMTP roaming server) Insecure = Port: 587 and Security Type: None (Accept all certificates)

5. At last, Select Done. And now you are ready to use your email account on your Android phone.

Manual setup of SBC mail using IMAP and SMTP on the Apple iPhone:

  1. Choose the Settings icon on your home screen
  2. Select Mail

  4. Select Add Account

  5. Select Other from the menu

  6. Select Add Mail Account
  7. Enter your Name, Email & Password and then click Next
  8. Select Now Scroll down to Incoming Mail Server and then put all the necessary details, then do the same for Outgoing Mail Server, and then select Next.
  • Make sure that User Name is the full email address. User Name & Password are the same for both Incoming & Outgoing servers.
  • Incoming Mail Server Host Name is imap.mail.att.net
  • Outgoing Mail Server Host Name is smtp.mail.att.net

  1. You may receive a prompt asking you to verify the incoming and outgoing servers –click continue for each or tap “Details” and then tap “Trust”

  2. Save it
  3. Choose the new account that you’ve just created

  4. Choose the SMTP server

  5. Check the SMTP settings and click Done
  • Outgoing Mail Server Host Name for SBCGLOBAL.NET is smtp.mail.att.net
  • User Name: Full SBCGLOBAL.NET email address
  • Password: Your email password
  • Use SSL is on. You can also turn it off and use the correct Port number as below.
    • Outgoing (SMTP) Secure – Port: 465 for and Security Type: SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
    • Outgoing (SMTP roaming server) Secure – Port: 587 and Security Type: SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
    • Outgoing (SMTP) – Port: 25 and Security Type: None (Accept all certificates)
    • Outgoing (SMTP roaming server) Insecure – Port: 587 and Security Type: None (Accept all certificates)
  • Authentication is Password
  • Server Port is 465
